Part
of the 2nd year curriculum is to do
Event Management. The practical side of
this is done by dividing the students into
groups of 3 and assigning different projects to
each team. Not only must the event run smoothly
and be a success but an attempt must be made to
make a profit.
One
of the groups was given the fun and sociable
Annual Potjiekos Competition. High Schools
are invited and encouraged to be as creative as
possible with their chosen theme and menu. An
open category is also available for any tertiary
educations groups that wish to enter.
23
May 2009 proved to be the perfect sunny, warm
day for the competition. While the creations
were bubbling away , the ‘future chefs” had the
opportunity to snack on Popcorn, Waffles or
Crepes. There was also the opportunity to
win prizes for top scores in Jukskie or
Boulle.
The
schools that entered showed a great amount of
enthusiasm and creativity. After being
surrounded by the wonderful smells for a couple
of hours our taste buds were not disappointed.
All of the entries were fantastic and made it a
hard job for the judges to choose a winner.
The
day was a great success, fun was had by all, and
leaves a standard that needs to be bettered by
the 2010 2nd year students. |
